We were surrounded by the greenery of New South Wales again today as we drove through the Bega Valley. We passed through the lovely town of Tathra, which was lovely and over the bridge which spans the Bega River.

We stopped at Cuttagee beach, which reminded me a lot of the Northern Beaches in Sydney, miles of golden sand and other visible inlets up the coast. There were a few surfers out catching the waves, but it looked a bit choppy and cold!

The drive incorporated quite a few pretty villages nestled in between the rolling green hills and rock formations. You can feel the beginnings of the Great Dividing Range taking shape, which will continue all of the way up the east coast past Cairns. The prettiest village was Tilba Tilba, a national trust heritage village.

We parked at Batemans Bay Marine Park for lunch. We ate our sandwiches overlooking a calm lake area where people were enjoying fishing, boating and swimming. We've come to understand that you can't call yourself a true Australian without a 4WD, a boat, caravan and a couple of canoes - here's dreaming!

We decided to head up towards Canberra. Some of the roads were closed (we never found out the reason) and our intended caravan park was full. So, we ventured outside of the city towards the small village of Sutton and found a caravan park there. We intend to head into Canberra tomorrow for a longer look around. As its Sunday tomorrow hopefully it'll be a quiet and stress free experience.
